John O'Driscoll
- "Just over 4 years ago, a man approached me with an idea, 'going to build the ultimate bite alarm'
he proudly proclaimed. He then began to roll off a list of features that would indeed be the ultimate bite
alarm. 'I’m going to make it totally waterproof, you’ll never ever receive another false bleep, and what’s
more its going to be totally bullet-proof. What do you reckon to that?'.
I thought about it and the said, 'can you make it so it does not make any sound when I clip the hanger on, and
while you're at it make sure that I never forget to turn it on after I’ve done that. Another good thing would be
when I got a take at night it would light up my bivvy so as I can find my glasses cos I’m as blind as a bat without
them'. Little did I know that the man behind this concept was none other than Tom Wright. We exchanged phone numbers and
went our separate ways.
It was a good thing we exchanged numbers because over the course of the next four years we must have spoken a
thousand times about these alarms. 18 months ago I thought I would actually get my ultimate alarm system. Unfortunately
I never counted on Tom being the ultimate perfectionist. 'Got those prototypes here but I still not happy with them.
I’m going to re-design them and make them even smaller.' To say I was disappointed would be an understatment.
Almost on a daily basis I phoned Tom to see how things were progressing. 'Nearly there, just got to change one or two
things'...'there’s a small depression in the casing about the size of a pin prick' or 'the seal needs to be a little
bit thicker' or 'I’ve widened the gap between the ears'. So the list went on. To be perfectly honest I’d almost given
up hope. Then all of a sudden I heard 'I’ve got your alarms here'.
The following week I was entered into the WCC on Madine. This would give me the ideal opportunity to test them out,
little did I know that weather-wise it would become the ultimate test. Over the course of the next seven days that
region of France suffered one of the worst storms in living memory. Winds up to 80mph and 4 inches of rain in 2 days.
Many of the competitors were forced to pack it in early or try and repair failed equipment. Many had problems with
their alarm systems. I am happy to say that I did not face such problems. My little alarms did not give so much a as
false indication even during the height of the storm. I’ve been using these ever since.
I often think about that chance meeting with 'The Man'. Was it worth the wait? you’d better believe it. I never thought
I would see the ultimate alarm system, better than that, I now own one. There is so much more I could say, but one thing I
will say is 'Get yourself a set of these because nothing even comes close in terms of reliability'. Simply put they are
the very best."
Robbie Fielding - "I've been using the new ATTs alarms for most of the season and they have become my favourite alarm by far. No on and off buttons, totally silent until you turn on your Attx receiver on, then their unique capability is revealed. Until you use them, you don't know how special they really are. No twitchy beeps when the heavens descend wind and rain upon you. They are no bigger than a matchbox and half the size of a neville, and 100% waterproof. A 'must have' bit of kit, no matter the size of lake or whatever the weather, they were 100% reliable. Awesome."
Leon Bartropp - "Ive used the ATTx V2 for the last 6 months and have to say it is the best remote system I’ve had and ive used them all believe me, I like the battery low indicator and the variable tone that you can assign the receiver to name just a few of the various attributes of the ATTx V2, the transmitters are also very inconspicuous, with no wires or unsightly bits and bibs sticking out of the alarm, the range is good, I have found the battery life of both the transmitters and receiver to be second to none, a thumbs up from me most definitely. Looking forward to owning a pair of the alarms that are due to come out in the future"
Neil Hubber - "The ATTx V2 has come as a real bonus for me. I fish a big open water that is exposed to the elements where tackle, in particular alarms, are tested to the limit. I’ve used the ATTx V2 in the worst weather this place could throw at me, where waves hit the bank and continually wash over the rods and it has performed flawlessly. I can genuinely say I've the same faith in this remote system now as I have in the ultra reliable Neville’s that my ATTx V2 plugs into"
Lewis Read - "The ATTx is the original and best wireless transmitted buzzer system available - it has set a new bench mark, and is unquestionably the most versitile buzzer add on that money can buy!. Dont be mistaken into thinking that you only use one when on a trot - a really useful bit of kit for when rods are out in the water because of bankside topography - or even if you want your buzzer heads down low to keep your action hush hush......"
